Wherever he appeared, whether in the mountains, by the sea, in a wine cellar or elsewhere, as long as there was a listener or two, he was always accompanied by his guitar, harmonica, and hat.
Stegn was a living legend of Velika planina, as some people up on the plateau call him. When he wandered around Velika planina playing his guitar and harmonica, he could be heard from far away behind Zeleni rob, or sometimes from a cottage on Mala planina.
Of course, a good joke was never missing, and even if you had heard it before, you would laugh again at his original interpretation.
He played everything that came to his ears. Whether Slovenian folk songs, popular tunes, hits from here and there... He usually shortened everything, who could remember all the lyrics, and he typically reworked the melody because there weren't the right notes on his harmonica...
And that is Stegn, a master of musical simplicity in a truly authentic folk musician manner.
Over all these long years, he became a unique troubadour who always pampered us with his warmth and was most at home in the circle of a merry company, with whom he shared his music and good spirits.
Stegn's music was simple but full of soul. His interpretations were always unique, as he added his personal touch to each song.
His distinctive style of playing and singing was recognizable from afar, and his humor and approach to people made him popular among all generations.
